"Gemstones can be prong set or bezeled prong settings reveal the stone from the top and sides. Some settings are more fragile but show off the gem. Heavier prongs are sturdier but cover more of the gem. A bezel set (or wall aromel the stone) is the strongest. It can take lots of hard wear and tear.
